Basecamp Research Raises $140M for 28B Parameter Cell Therapy AI

Basecamp Research secured $140 million in Series C funding led by S32, a fund affiliated with Google co-founder Bill Maris. The round saw participation from a broad syndicate including NATO, Nvidia, and the $100 million Anthology Fund backed by Anthropic and Menlo Ventures. The startup's flagship 28-billion parameter foundation model, EDEN, was trained on a proprietary Trillion Gene Atlas containing data on more than 100 billion genes. Basecamp uses the software to develop in-vivo cell therapies, utilizing large serine recombinases derived from bacteriophages to deliver engineered DNA into living cells. The model also predicts immune responses to new therapies and helps researchers design entire cells equipped with disease-targeting therapeutic cargo.
