Monad Activates MonadTen Mainnet Revision, Slashing Storage Read Costs by 98%

Monad activated its MonadTen revision on mainnet, deploying the MIP-8 upgrade to fundamentally alter how the network charges smart contracts for reading storage. The update replaces slot-by-slot warming with a page-based model, grouping memory into pages of 128 consecutive slots totaling 4,096 bytes. The first storage read anywhere on a page maintains the 8,100 gas baseline, but any subsequent reads within that identical warmed page now cost just 100 gas for the rest of the transaction. Common Solidity layouts containing sequential state variables, struct fields, and array elements occupy consecutive slots, allowing developers to inherit this opcode discount automatically. Tooling that builds access lists, storage proofs, and gas estimates must now be updated to represent the page model, as EIP-2930 entries now warm entire pages instead of individual slots.
