Nvidia Commits $250M in Compute over Five Years for UK Agentic AI Safety Research

Nvidia $NVDA announced a five-year compute donation valued at $250M — providing $50M in annual compute access — to support agentic AI safety and security research across the United Kingdom. While the majority of the compute will go to the wider UK AI safety community, a portion is earmarked for the University of Oxford's BOLD lab, UCL's SOFAIR lab, and Imperial College London to study agentic foundation models and robotics safety. Nvidia will fund the access through UK-based Nvidia Cloud Partners using domestically hosted infrastructure, though specific provider selection, technical architecture, and commercial terms remain to be agreed. The research programs will test open-model security, real-world threat mitigations, and secure sandboxes using Nvidia OpenShell runtime software and the Nvidia Sentry reference design.
