Oracle AI Data Center Hit With 6-Month Pipeline Delay After Permit Denial

Oracle $ORCL faces a critical pipeline delay for its multi-gigawatt New Mexico data center. The New Mexico State Land Office denied the permit for the 17-mile Green Chile Project natural gas pipeline for a second time. Energy Transfer LP pushed the target in-service date back nearly six months, from August 15, 2026, to February 1, 2027. The delayed pipeline is required to deliver up to 400 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to power the facility's Bloom Energy fuel cells. Oracle $ORCL maintains the data center itself remains on schedule, promoting 4,000 construction jobs, 1,500 permanent positions, and a $50 million water system commitment to build local goodwill. The physical reality of the AI data center boom is that cleaner generation technology means nothing if you cannot secure the local permits for the supply chain to fuel it.
