Runway announced Solaris, categorized as an "Interface World Model," which renders software environments frame by frame rather than executing traditional code. The system generates interactive interfaces in 720p, responding directly to clicks, drags, and voice commands. Solaris is built on top of Runway's Gen-4.5 video model and follows its earlier GWM-1 framework. The system is designed to replace fixed apps with dynamic environments, adapting online stores or tutorials to individual users in real time. Runway acknowledges the tech remains in the research phase, citing unsolved challenges with generating stable, readable text and maintaining reliability during long sessions.
